VA mixed and remixed by Todd Terje: Remaster Of The Universe (CD + Mix CD, Permenant Vacation, June 2010)

This is a two CD set. One is a compilation of nine of Terje's remixes. It's always good to hear his version Lindstrøm's "Another Station", though I must already have it on at least half a dozen different mixes. I didn't know M's "Pop Muzik" before, but his remix is really extremely catchy. Other than that, it's a bit so-so. Much better is the mix CD, which takes in most of the unmixed tracks and a lot more, and puts them in a context which makes much more sense. (You might speculate that the unmixed disc is aimed at DJs, only who's still going to be playing out such old tracks — and doesn't already own them?) The bizarre whistling dub cover of Ace Of Base's "All That She Wants", credited to Chuck Norris and presumably a Terje creation, is memorable at least. It's all very silly and a lot of fun, and it ends with a joyously bonker's double whammy: "Terjelator" is an accordian-heavy oompah disco stomp, credited to Kacic Kullman's Five and presumably another Terje original (the name appears to refer to Kaci Kullman Five, a Norwegian conservative politician turned businesswoman); and the swing mashup of Eurodans, credited to the New Mjøndalen Disco Swingers and presumably, yep, our man TT (which reminds me a lot of "Swing Set" by Jurassic 5, and is none the worse for that).

I bought this from Juno. They call it Disco / Nu-disco.
